Residential Locksmith Services
Can you rekey my locks, or do I need to replace them?
That depends on whether your locks all currently take the same key. If some of your locks use different key types, you may need to replace certain locks depending on the model. Sometimes cylinders can be replaced to change keyways, but in other cases, the entire lock may need to be replaced to key everything alike.
Do you install smart locks or electronic locks?
Yes, I install and program smart/electronic locks.
How quickly can you respond to a home lockout?
Typical response time for a home lockout is within 30 to 45 minutes, depending on your service location.
Commercial Locksmith Services
Can you set up a master key system for my business?
Yes, I am highly experienced in building and maintaining master key systems.
Do you offer lock maintenance for commercial properties?
Yes, I offer single-stop, monthly, bi-annual, and annual maintenance plans. These plans cover inspections of doors and door hardware, preventative maintenance, discounted repair, replacement, and upgrade costs. Plans also include a number of emergency trip charges per year, depending on the selected tier. Initial assessment costs $200-$500, and plan pricing is customized to your business.
Are your commercial locksmith services compliant with local fire safety regulations?
Yes, I stay compliant with local fire safety regulations. As an ALOA Fire Door Inspector, I can inspect your fire doors to ensure they meet NFPA 80 and NFPA 101 standards.
Automotive Locksmith Services
Can you make a replacement key for my car if I lost the original?
Yes, I can read many auto locks to generate a working key or order key codes using your vehicle's VIN number. I currently cover most vehicles using standard cut automotive transponder keys (non-high-security keys).
Do you program transponder keys or key fobs?
Yes, I program transponder keys and remotes for vehicles using standard cut keys.
Can you help if my car key broke in the ignition?
Yes, I can likely assist with broken key blade retrieval. However, please check to ensure I can replace your key if needed. Currently, I am unable to cut high-security (sidewinder, laser-cut, shoulder-milled) keys.
Fire Door and Security Compliance
What does a fire door inspection involve?
A fire door inspection is a multipoint visual inspection of a door and its hardware to ensure it meets NFPA 80 standards. This is becoming a requirement for commercial buildings in various jurisdictions and for insurance companies that insure medical and assisted living facilities.
Can you assist with making my building more secure?
Yes, I can provide suggestions to target harden and improve the security of your properties.
Do you provide recommendations for improving fire door compliance?
Yes, upon completion of your fire door inspection, you will receive a report outlining any failed items. I can provide a separate quote for needed repairs or replacements, or you may perform repairs in-house or through another third-party provider.
Pricing and Payment
How much does a locksmith service cost?
Service calls start with a trip charge. Within 25 miles of Greenville, the trip charge is $80 for residential customers and $100 for commercial customers. Lockout service is typically included in the trip charge. Vehicle lockouts start at $60, and a typical all-keys-lost scenario for a vehicle providing two keys cut and programmed is around $250. A typical two-door home with four keyable locks and six keys is around $180 without part replacements. For commercial spaces, the equivalent cost is around $220.
Do you charge extra for after-hours or emergency services?
Yes, I charge a $40 after-hours fee for emergency requests placed outside of my listed business hours.
What payment methods do you accept?
I accept cash and card payments.
Miscellaneous
Are you licensed and insured?
While licensing isn't required for locksmiths in Michigan, I am a Certified Registered Locksmith with the Associated Locksmiths of America (ALOA).
How can I verify your certifications?
My certification and membership can be verified at findalocksmith.com, which only lists registered locksmiths. I can also provide my membership certificate and identification upon request.
What should I do if I suspect someone has a copy of my key?
If you suspect someone has your key, take immediate action to eliminate its usability. Call your local locksmith to have your locks rekeyed. For vehicle keys, I can erase transponder keys from your vehicle's memory and assign new keys, ensuring the vulnerable key no longer operates your vehicle.
